This marks year 12 at Harlan and year 14 in Birmingham of my teaching career! It’s a joy to spend these elementary school years with your children, seeing them grow as musicians and people. It takes a village, and I’m honored to be a part of this one!
This fall we’ll host Olivia Friedenstab during her student teaching experience from Oakland University. Ms. Friendenstab’s main instrument is bassoon, and she looks forward to spending this semester with the learners of Harlan!
Music connects us to others, and helps us to understand our world. In the Harlan music room we explore important topics such as empathy, kindness, and responsibility while building essential music skills. Our hope is that every student grows to understand their value and the value of others, and has a sense of belonging at Harlan.
